TIME TEAM: The archaeology of operation cobra freelance
In March 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to take on freelance animation work for Time Team. First airing on Channel 4 in 1994, Time Team holds a special place in the hearts of history enthusiasts across the UK and beyond. Working on this project was a dream come true for me, as I've always been captivated by the intersection of education and entertainment that Time Team embodies.
"Niall’s animations brought our World War II project to life with clarity and creativity. His attention to detail and understanding of the brief exceeded expectations, and the final visuals were both engaging and impactful. A pleasure to work with!"
- Emily Boulting Director Producer Time Team
Tasked with creating a variety of map animations depicting the movements of Allied and enemy forces in World War II France, I dove headfirst into the project. These animations were destined for a video focusing on World War II and dig sites throughout Normandy. It was an amazing opportunity to contribute to such a renowned brand and to blend my personal interest in history with my animation skills.
Throughout the process, I crafted eight animations in total, each one pushing the boundaries of my abilities and honing my skills in software like After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The support I received from Time Team was invaluable, and it helped me grow and develop as a creative professional. This experience was truly eye-opening and has propelled me forward on my journey as an animator.
